POST ELOPEMENT ADVENTURING SNOWY MOUNTAIN ROADS IN EASTERN WASHINGTON

I knew Alaska was going to be full of adventure, but I didn’t know how full of adventure this trip to Alaska would be. We had been planning this adventure with Elle and Sam at Matanuska Glacier. Alaska is full of Glaciers, some you have to boat to, some you have to fly or heli to, this one you could drive to and walk right on it! Matanuska Glacier is 82 miles from Anchorage in Glacier View, AK.

They have tours available to show you around the glacier as well is accsessible if you have spikes for your hiking shoes. We highly reccomend booking a tour before your elopement, so you can get a feel for walking on the ice, and the trail as well. Of course as your photographer this is something we also do in advance.

They also have guides available during your elopement to guide you to some less traveled note worthy spots and to avoid crowds.

As photographers, we want the best possible experience for our clients and location scouting is always key before a shoot and especially an elopement day when the client is relying on you.

We used Glacier Tours as our guides.

Elle & Sam’s Elopement Day took place in mid July, so the days were long and sunset was officially around 10:45-11:00pm. & even then they sky still remained as blue hour throughout the night. This gave us plenty of time and light to explore the glacier. After we explored the glacier with them we then headed to Hatcher Pass in Palmer to end the day with blue hour photos. Because it later in the evening it felt like we had these places to ourselves while creating a magical and intimate experience for E&S!
