MOODY PNW ELOPEMENT

MARIE & SHAFEQ

SNOQUALMIE PASS, WASHINGTON

“MAY THE 4TH BE WITH YOU.” Was the deciding factor for these two elopement day! Even without being huge Star Wars fans, these two wanted to celebrate their beautiful day in their gorgeous new home state, Washington.

I may be biased as I’m PNW born and raised, but Washington continues to be one of my favorite places to celebrate elopements. It’s vast terrain, trails, sceneries, make it one of the most special places to celebrate a day like this.

These two celebrated along Snoqualmie Pass which connects the west Green lush “wet” side of the state to the east “dryer” rolling hills part of the state. Both sides of the state are so beautiful with tons to offer but nestled in the middle of the pass is one of Washington most accessible and scenic gems.

If your thinking of eloping in Washington, Snoqualmie Pass is a top contender to consider. It’s close to Seattle and city limits, tons of accessible trails from easy to hard, and locations are relatively close in proximity to get the most out of your scenery.

Marie & Shafeq wanted to elope in the place they now call now! These two east coast transplants admired and loved Washingtons beauty and wanted to start their next chapter in the place they call, not to mention, show all their family and friends the beauty of Washington State.

We first started their wedding day meeting at franklin falls near the summit of Snoqualmie Pass, as it was still spring, we wanted to make the most of light and start out with the adventure portion of the day. Also, snow can linger long into late June on the pass, so we wanted to make sure we allowed most of our time & light for our biggest trek of the day! The road to Franklin Falls often is closed once snow fall starts to accumulate, so that being said, allow extra hike time to walk from the main roads inwards. As we wanted closest access to the falls we parked at the summit and made the trek in. The total hike was around 2.0 mi roundtrip.

After our waterfall adventure at Franklin it was time for ceremony and we headed back west on Snoquamie towards Rattlesnake Lake for their Ceremony. You can find Rattlesnake Lake on the edge of North Bend, WA. This location is one of my favorites as its only a 45 minute drive from Seattle, very accessible with a paved parking lot, and is a great location for Ceremony as most family members even with walking disabilities can access if your still looking for nature feel. You can even hike up the mountain to Rattlesnake Ledge which is a 5.3 out and back trail rated moderate. Keep in mind in the Summer months this is a busy location. So if planning a wedding day or elopement, I would opt for weekdays or off season time frames. It’s busiest in the months of Late June - Early September, least busy late September - early June and is accessible all year.

The best locations to stay near these locations would be:

  • Seattle

  • Bellevue

  • Issaquah

  • Northbend

  • Snoqualmie (Check out Salish lodge if you plan to stay in the area, we can’t recommend this resort more!)

After Marie & Shafeq’s ceremony, we adventured around the misty dry lake and tree stumps and the sky went from grey to a dusky a blue. That’s when we knew we needed to break out the light sabers and end their wedding day in the most epic way possible!

This whole day felt like a fairytale and felt true to who Marie and Shafeq are as a couple! We loved this day so much and hope you enjoy looking through their gallery as much as we enjoyed capturing it.
