BOTANICAL KAUAI ELOPEMENT

TROPICAL KAUAI, HAWAII ELOPEMNT

PLANNING AND PERMITS:

We researched and planned all the possible places we could include in their day. They wanted jungle and overlooking the Na Pali Coast. So our first step was to contact the Hawaiian State Parks to secure a special use permit for their day.  When planning any type of ceremony, gathering, or photography within Hawaii state parks, you will need a special use permit with both the State Parks and Film Office of Hawaii. It can be a bit of a process, so don’t worry, if you hire us as your photographer / or videographers, we can guide you through the process and help navigate it together. Please not the process itself can take up to two months, but you also can’t apply until 3-4 months ahead, so if planning an elopement, allow plenty of time beforehand just in case.

WE ARRIVED IN KAUAI:

Once we arrived to Kauai we grabbed Dinner with them and ordered pizza. We always get butterflies before meeting our couples, but as soon as they sat down all those butterflies flew away and the night was filled with laughter, stories, and just getting to know each other more before their big day!

THE DAY BEGINS!

Every wedding day has its hiccups, whether they are big or small, there may just be one. I say its the initiation of getting married haha. Sara and Tim had originally booked a camper van they could adventure in for their wedding day and get ready in the day of. However the van had some starting issues and they found a plan B instead! They found the coolest camper Jeep with a Tent on top! Since getting ready space was a bit limited, we told them to come over to our airbnb and get ready! Honestly, it was so fun having them over in the morning and just getting to hang out and get to know each other even more before their day began!

I took Sara’s dress around our airbnb property and found the perfect trees to hang it on and get those detail shots in.

Once we were ready we headed to Princeville Botanical Garderns. Although they don’t allow weddings, our friends at Princeville Botanical Gardens granted us access to their gardens to make this day special for both Sara and Tim. It was surreal having the property to ourselves to explore and by far some of mu favorite photos I had ever taken. Sara, also being obsessed with plants, was in absolute HEAVEN!

S&T Even had their first look at the Gardens overlooking all the beautiful trees.

After the gardens, we headed to the beach for a quick minute, then headed to the otherwise of the island to Waimea Canyon / Kokee State Park’s. Waimea canyon is known as “the Grand Canyon of the Pacific” and reason to visit Kauai alone just to see it! The Na Pali Coastline is deeply routed in Hawaiian culture and a spatial experience just getting to be in the presence of its beauty. The Na Pali coastline is extremely popular especially known for where they filmed Jurassic Park.

Ending the day in Kokee State Park Was beyond special. We headed down into the brushy cliffs of the Na Pali and Sara and Tim said their vows over looking the beautiful lush cliffs and ocean. Dustin even officiated their ceremony as well as doing their video for the day! We danced on the cliffside as we watched the sunset and stayed out till the sky turned dark.

Spending they day with these two was everything and more and getting to witness the love they have for each other was pure magic.
